An abetment of suicide case has been filed against Sayem after a woman was found dead at a Gulshan apartment in Dhaka on Monday

Bashundhara Group Managing Director (MD) Sayem Sobhan Anvir has filed a petition with the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a case filed for abetting suicide.

The matter has been enlisted in the cause list of the virtual court of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman at serial number 14.

Sayem is the son of Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, the chairman of Bashundhara, one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh.

A woman was found dead at a Gulshan apartment in Dhaka on Monday that police termed suicide.
The deceased, Mosarat Jahan Munia, 21, of Comilla, was a second-year student and HSC exam candidate at Mirpur Cantonment Public School and College.

Her sister, Nusrat Jahan, found the hanging body of her sister at the rented flat on Road No 120 in Gulshan and informed the police. Police later recovered the body.

Quoting her sister, police said that Munia committed suicide in that flat, where she started living alone in March.
Hours after finding Munia dead, Nusrat filed a case at Gulshan police station, accusing Sayem of abetting suicide.

Nusrat in the case statement had claimed the accused rented the apartment using her and her husband’s national identification (NID) card.

A Dhaka court on Tuesday imposed a travel ban on Sayem Sobhan Anvir, barring him from leaving the country.
