Her medical board is going to have a meeting to look into this new symptom later on Friday
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been running a fever since Thursday night, the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.
The doctors attending her have already taken measures to counter this new symptom, and her condition is otherwise stable, Alamgir said on Friday, during a press briefing on the upcoming national budget, in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
“Her other health parameters are stable. The doctors are now investigating to find out why she developed a fever,” Alamgir said.
He further added that the medical board formed to oversee Khaleda Zia’s was going to sit down later on Friday and look into this new development.
The BNP chief has been admitted in the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka since April 27, a couple of weeks after she tested positive for Covid-19.
On May 3, she was transferred to the hospital’s coronary care unit (CCU) after she started having respiratory issues.
She later tested negative for Covid-19, but has been undergoing treatment at the hospital for other complications.
The BNP chief has been living in her Gulshan residence since her jail sentences were put on suspension in March last year, on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.
She was sentenced to a total of 17 years in jail in 2018 in two graft cases involving Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust.
