The Dhallywood heartthrob has accused six people in a case over rape and murder attempts

BNP MP Md Harunur Rashid has demanded the culprits who allegedly assaulted and attempted to rape and murder popular film actress Pori Moni be brought to justice.

The Chapainawabganj 3 lawmaker made his demands on the parliament floor while participating in the discussions on two different bills on Monday.

Pointing to Pori Moni’s incident, he said the renowned actress has been seeking justice for four days following her attempted rape and assault at the Dhaka Boat Club in Uttara led by real estate businessman Nasir U Mahmood.

“All media have published news in this regard. Is it false?” he questioned.

He also drew the attention of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who was not in the House at the time. “The incident should be investigated and the people involved must be brought to justice,” Harun added.
He said that there were laws in the country but they were not being implemented. “There is no point in legislating unless they are implemented properly.”

Earlier on Sunday, Pori Moni had posted about the incident on her verified Facebook page at 7:53pm, seeking Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s help and demanding justice.

Later that night, the actress at a press conference revealed the identity of the perpetrators who allegedly assaulted and attempted to rape her.

She claimed that Nasir U Mahmud, a former president of Uttara Club Limited, and another businessman named Omi tried to rape and murder her at the boat club on the Turag. “They physically assaulted me and tried to kill me. Omi was also involved in the whole setup.”

Pori Moni also said she went to Banani police station to lodge a complaint but they took no interest in documenting the incident.
However, several hours after she filed a case against Nasir and five others on Monday, the businessman was arrested with several others from the city’s Uttara area.

MP Harunur Rashid on Monday also called for an investigation to reveal the real cause of death of college student Mosarat Jahan Munia, the alleged mistress of the Bashundhara Group managing director, in April.

On April 26, police had recovered the girl’s body hanging from the ceiling fan in her bedroom at a posh Gulshan flat. Her legs were touching the bed and both knees were a little bent.

The next day, her family sued Bashundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir, accusing him of abetting Munia’s death by suicide.

The BNP lawmaker claimed that if the accused people in these two cases were general people, nothing would have prevented the law from taking its course against them
