In order to prevent the deadly virus infection, everyone needs to understand the importance of taking Covid-19 tests, says the prime minister
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League leaders and activists to help people getting vaccinated in rural areas and motivate them to go for Covid-19 testing.
“We are taking the initiative to provide vaccines in rural areas massively and pre-registration will not be mandatory there. Rather people can receive the jabs showing their NID cards on the basis of on-spot registration,” BSS quoted her as saying.
The prime minister made the remarks at the premiere of the 27th founding anniversary of Swechchhasebak League as chief guest, joining virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban yesterday.
She also said that people’s fear regarding the Covid-19 inoculation is almost gone, but the fear of Covid-19 testing prevails.
No one wants to go for a test. But in order to get proper treatment, it is mandatory to get tested. This perception has to be made clear to the people by our party members,” she added.
AFM Bahauddin Nasim, joint general secretary of Awami League and Swechchhasebak League former president, also spoke at the program as a special guest while its acting president Nirmal Ranjan Guha delivered the welcome address, and General Secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu moderated the ceremony.
Besides, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sajeeb Wazed Joy, prime minister’s ICT affairs adviser, a documentary on the activities of the Swechhasebak League in 2020 was screened at the event.
The prime minister also unveiled the cover of a book titled “One Year of Swechchhasebak League”.
