If the Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh remains under control, the government plans to increase the number of classes and resume normal academic activities at all educational institutions from January, says Education Minister Dipu Moni.
It is not possible to take any immediate decision on increasing classes as some countries are dealing with the third wave of the pandemic, she told reporters after an event in Baburhat, Chandpur on Saturday.
After the SSC and HSC exams are over, a new round of classes will begin in 2022 if the situation remains steady. The number of in-person classes may also be increased at the same time.
The minister said there was no chance of increasing the number of in-person classes right now as there were not enough space to do that while properly maintaining the Covid-19 safety guidelines.We will think about increasing the number of classes from January if the Covid-19 situation remains under control,” she added.

The government had shut the educational institutions on March 17, 2020, after the country reported the first Covid-19 cases on March 8 and later the closure was extended several times.
The pandemic-related school closures in the country affected about 38 million students even though the government introduced TV-based learning programs for them.
