Indian women trade body honours Bangladeshi leaders

The recipients included 12 personalities and three organizations

A total of 15 Bangladeshis were awarded on Tuesday during the first anniversary celebration of Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI).

The recipients included 12 personalities and three organizations at the event held at the Le Meridien Hotel in the capital.

The event was sponsored by Summit Group (Platinum Sponsor), Amra Romoni, Amishee, Organikare, Seven Rings Cement, Monash College UCB, Jamuna TV (Bronze Sponsors).

Former finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith received the “Legendary Leader of the Decade” award, while Niloufer Manzur won Woman of the Decade: Social Development – Education, and Dr Firdausi Qadri for Iconic Woman Creating a Better World for All.
The category of Exceptional Women of Excellence awarded three women, Humaira Azam, Tamara Hasan Abed and Jaya Ahsan.

In the category of Young Innovators, the awards were given to Dr Senjuti Saha in science, Fadiah Khan in ICT, Sabangee in Fashion and Craft, Maimuna Ahmad, Nasima AKter Nisha and Sarah Kamal.

The three organizations awarded were SME Foundation for access to finance, RedX for delivery systems, and Sajida Foundation for healthcare services, all for their contributions to Covid-19 management amid the pandemic.

Bangladesh – India Business Council was formed in August 2020 under the leadership of Mantasha Ahmed, president of the council, and represents WICCI in Bangladesh.
The council currently has 23 members and 4 advisers: Rubaba Dowla, Sonia Bashir Kabir, Farzana Chowdhury and Kanakchanpa Chakma.

All members and advisers of the council are leading business women and corporate icons of the country.

In February last year, Bangladesh – India Business Council hosted “Asian Women Entrepreneurs’ Summit 2020,” where the highest awards of WICCI were presented to Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Speaker, Bangladesh Parliament, and Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
