Damage estimated at Tk3.5 crore
A massive fire has destroyed four resorts and a home in Sajek Vaelly, a popular tourist spot in the hill tracts district of Khagrachhari.
The fire originated from the first floor of one of the four resorts around 3:30am on Thursday, according to locals.
The blaze was brought under control with two hours of concerted efforts, said Sajek police OC Nurul Anwar.
No casualties have been reported.
It was not immediately clear whether the blaze was an accident or arson.
A bigger catastrophe was averted due to the prompt action of the army and locals.
The inferno caused an estimated Tk3.5 crore worth of damage, according to a source in the army.
