A clash ensued between BNP men and police in front of the party’s Nayapaltan office on Wednesday afternoon after the party activists started thronging there.
BNP leaders and workers have took position in Nayapaltan since morning. As police tried to remove them from there, a fisticuffs took place between the party men and the police personnel.
To disperse them, police fired tear gas shells and rubber bullets. Then, the BNP men chased police with sticks which created a tense situation in the area.
Vandalism and arson attack incidents were also reported.
Several people, including journalists, were injured.
