Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) and National Professor Dr Nurul Islam 4th Industrial Revolution Center organized a round table discussion titled ÔIndustry-Academia CollaborationÕ at conference room of the university in Chattogram on Saturday.
USTC Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Eng Mohammad Jahangir Alam presided over the event and presented the concept paper.
This round table meeting was held aiming to build skilled manpower through field level hands-on education of students with theoretical knowledge through discussions with representatives of universities and industrial institutions.
Managing directors, CEOs, general managers from 18 industrial companies of the country were present in the discussion.
In the discussion, the discussants said industrial institutes and universities can work together to transform students into skilled manpower.
Designing and teaching lesson plans and curricula in universities as per the needs of industrial establishments will help the students to build a successful career, they said.
Representatives from industrial institutions signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with USTC at the programme.
The round table meeting was moderated by Dr Shubhra Prakash Dutta, Director (Acting), IQAC and Afifa Rahman, Senior Lecturer, Department of English, USTC.
